when language outpowers reason
i feel my big toes tingeling
with fear of what the news will bring
when i turn the tv on this evening

i stand before the wall of emotion
summoned by people that like the smell of a burning book
i drill an opening through quiet introspection and have a look
beyond it i see almost nothing, smoky and dark
a few floating victims awaiting a shark
