unreasonable drought (2008)
don't read old love poems
they are either terrible poetry
or are about times much better than now
or both, most likely, given how
you probably have become an unbearable asshole
this is usually welcomed by no one
and thus you have more time to yourself
for spoiling perfectly good paper with your thoughts
and thus your poetry becomes
less like an unused penis
and more like an overused, broken penis
void of purpose and soul
vulgar, smelly, and old
but mostly serving as a sort of urine sample
for a good dozen years later when you're divorced
and the vodka runs out of brain cells to trample
you double click on a folder titled "crap and things"
to the sound of god's loud sarcastic clapping
another perspective on the years pours out
and a desert no longer is defined by unreasonable drought
