the vastness of unrealized glory (2008)

my aim in life is to be a chapter
in a broken man's first and only autobiographical novel
that will dig at my leftovers with a rusty shovel
with claims to know the pain i've caused
stuttering around the truth without pause
and letting the reader, if one ever is found
to rediscover something profound
in the absurd contradiction of this subplot of his story
and quietly ponder the vastness of unrealized glory
