someone peed in the laundry room again
and i suspect my neighbor suspects me
or a version of me that she saw half-naked last year

i can feel the itch of rumors building
the polite smile as she panics
over a key that fails to turn

it won't be long till i'll have to pee
under the pressure of fluorescent lights
and the choking hurdles of the rinse cycle

just to prove to the residents of my building
that i am not afraid to live up to my reputation
no matter its origins or validity
