i'm running to endure
amongst the young and old
i'm not running for the cure
i'm running for the gold

for some, with death, they're racing
and death each time finds them
for others, it's death they're facing
not to be overwhelmed

but me, i'm simply running
with death far far behind
i know, from books, of its cunning
but it doesn't know of mine
