nobody here is special
by definition it's a meeting
of mediocre minds
the kind that do not cross
state lines
when they happen to disappear
and so i fear
that i may not find
a reason to exist
and yet to succeed i must persist
without such a reason

it's a catch 22
without a catch to it

i used to write
about far away gas stations
with lonely girls
ringing up my lukewarm soda
somewhere in tennessee
or south dakota
as i make my way west or south
i dreamed of tasting that broken girl's mouth
and now that i have
i can die happy
with a wrench in my hand
fixing my sink
without being someone special
without wasting too much ink
