i passed outside
a carnival ride
where many men waited
full of sadness and lies

looking up
like anxious rabbits
before sunrise
at spring time

i walked to the end
with a flower in hand
that a homeless man
sold me with a smile

and i wondered when
the line would end
and i'd get a chance
to laugh for a while
