i stood before a line of them (2007)
i stood before a line of them:
those who didn't care to look at me.
i found pleasure in the chill
of wasted hours needing them
i can't desire what is mine
and end my mind before the body goes
without pursuit of a great big lie
without the need to fear the truth
i unwrapped a sandwich from a donut place
and clamped down with my young ape jaw
to fill the emptiness inside
that craves more when i get more
i finished off a cheap cigar
with the reflection from the dark outside
and went to bed with an old time-tested friend
who last week i called a whore
those who didn't care to look at me.
