i used to be certain
that stealing gummy o's

was a moral and a criminal offense

but now i'm not so certain
on account of the occasions
that i did it and also on account
of the invasion of iraq

contrasting philosophies abound.
one, for example, views immigration
as a form of invasion, and honestly,
myself having done the crime, i understand

occurs to me
after certain incidents
that each man is an enemy
of some significant community across the world

sometimes the enemies are biblically close,
it's true, it happened to me once:
i was mowing my parent's lawn while watching
a fat jackass bouncing with two fine ladies on a trampoline

i am not bitter, i'm just beat,
