The folks at Grapplers Quest ran a contest for a video “documentary” of mental and physical training preparing for an upcoming Grapplers Quest event. I was lucky enough to win it today: Lex Fridman Wins Compete FREE for Life Video Contest.
The prize is a pass to compete free at any Grapplers Quest for the rest of my life. That’s pretty cool! It helps ease the cost of attending top notch tournaments. But also it’s great to see Brian Cimmins (the CEO of Grapplers Quest) be such a huge fan and supporter of grappling and grapplers everywhere. Thanks to people like him, submission grappling and brazilian jiu jitsu are not just here to stay, but are constantly growing in their popularity.
I also jotted down some of the reasons why I love jiu jitsu (and judo) in a previous post: Two Years Since Starting Jiu Jitsu.
I’m a lucky s.o.b. in many ways. Here’s the thing. I spend most of my time sleep-deprived and over-caffeinated behind the computer working. So, when I step on the mat I’m often not the cheeriest person in the room. To have people around me that don’t kill me for that, give an understanding nod every once in a while, and somehow still manage to remain my friends is amazing. Thank you.
