Favorite Blogs

Here are a bunch of blogs I personally like to frequent put into categories. Most of these fit into multiple categories, and many don’t really fit at all. But I’m too OCD not to categorize. If I forgot to list your blog, please message me and remind me.

I include some comments about the blog if something pops into mind at the time of writing this page. I also include RSS feed links in case you want to subscribe to each.

By the way, blogs are sorted alphabetically. That’s also how I pick my friends: alphabetically. If your name starts with an an A or a B, we’re probably going to be close friends right away.

Judo

Ann Maria De MarsRSS - World champion, PhD, and the mom of everyone’s favorite judoka and female MMA star Ronda Rousey. But the reason her blog is fun to read is that she is full of knowledgeable opinions, and is not afraid to tell you exactly what they are.

Lance WicksRSS – Lance is Coach 2.0 in that he fully utilizes the computer box in teaching and analyzing Judo. I think of him as the Oracle in the movie Matrix.

Matt Marcinek - RSS - Matt is one of the funnier grapplers out there. That reason alone is why I read his blog. But he also has a huge heart and an incredible competitive drive. He is a true cross trainer with a deep appreciation of both judo and jiu jitsu.

Ray Huxen - RSS – Ray is my coach, mentor, and friend. This is the blog he uses to make day-to-day comments on his teaching, training, and life in general.

BJJ

Dan FaggellaRSS – No one covers (using words, pictures, videos) the technical aspects of jiu jitsu better than Dan. His blogging output is incredible. If someone somewhere did a cool technique in competition (IBJJF, ADCC, UFC, etc), wait 1-2 days and you’ll see Dan write a 5 page description of it.

Josh Vogel - RSS – Josh is one of the most cerebral jiu jitsu players I’ve ever met. Basically he is very good at figuring out the art behind the art. His curiosity is endless, which makes for a very interesting read.

Marco PerazzoRSS – Marco is the head instructor of NJMA, great leader and coach. This blog is from him and his students.

Tim CarpenterRSS – Tim will kill you with his wit or just kill you without the wit. One of the nicest guys and the best fighters I’ve ever met. Black belt in jiu jitsu and very good instructor.

I really enjoy some of your tournament coverage and I liked that article you wrote about maybe understanding meditation a little bit better. I notice you are a team balance member, I actually train at Tai Kai in liverpool ny and 3 of our black belt coaches were at that seminar you got your purple belt at.
Just wanted to say that random people on the internet do read your blog and find it entertaining maybe one day we will get to roll together because I plan on making my way out to phils place and checking it out.
Congrats on the belt and have a good day sir!
