Turtle Turnover Randori

3.5 hours is always a tough training session, so at the very end when we were doing the turtle turnover drill I stepped out to video the randori. I ended up regretting it because it looked fun and productive. Basically, one person starts in turtle, the other is tasked with attacking the turtle. It’s positional training. And there’s a 1 minute limit put on it. Here’s the video of randori before the drill and the drill itself:

What made this positional training effective I think is the one minute time limit. Because of it there was an urgency in people’s attacks of the turtle. Also, short sets meant that people switched frequently, which led to a variety of good pairings.
